Thunderstorm Warning for Todd County SD and 1 More

RAPID CITY, SD (844 PM MDT Sun May 3 2020) — The National Weather Service in Rapid City has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Southwestern Todd County in south central South Dakota Southeastern Bennett County in southwestern South Dakota until 930 PM MDT/1030 PM CDT/. At 844 PM MDT/944 PM CDT/, a severe thunderstorm was located over Vetal, or 20 miles east of Martin, moving southeast at 30 mph. HAZARD: 60 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail. SOURCE: Radar indicated. Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. This severe thunderstorm will be near Harrington around 855 PM MDT. This storm is producing large quantities of hail. Driving through deep hail is like driving on slushy roads. Slow down and do not brake suddenly. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
