GREENVILLE-SPARTANBURG, SC (936 PM EST Sat Jan 11 2020) — The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a Tornado Warning for Central Chester County in Upstate South Carolina South central York County in Upstate South Carolina East central Union County in Upstate South Carolina until 1000 PM EST. At 935 PM EST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 14 miles southwest of Chester, or near Carlisle, moving northeast at 65 mph. HAZARD: Tornado. SOURCE: Radar indicated rotation. Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. This dangerous storm will be near Chester, Chester State Park and Lowrys around 950 PM EST. Richburg around 1000 PM EST. Other locations impacted by this dangerous thunderstorm include Leeds, Cornwell and Edgemoor. TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.
