Tornado Warning for Plaquemines Parish, LA

NEW ORLEANS, LA (256 AM CDT Sat May 11 2019) — The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a Tornado Warning for Northwestern Plaquemines Parish in southeastern Louisiana until 330 AM CDT. At 255 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Myrtle Grove, or 14 miles south of Belle Chasse, moving east at 20 mph. HAZARD: Tornado and golf ball size hail. SOURCE: Radar indicated rotation. Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. This dangerous storm will be near Pointe A La Hache around 320 AM CDT. TAKE COVER NOW! Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
