BINGHAMTON, NY (318 PM EDT Fri May 10 2019) — The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a Tornado Warning for Northern Otsego County in central New York Southeastern Madison County in central New York Northeastern Chenango County in central New York until 345 PM EDT. At 318 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over South Brookfield, or 11 miles east of Hamilton, moving east at 40 mph. HAZARD: Tornado and half dollar size hail. SOURCE: Radar indicated rotation. Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. This dangerous storm will be near Edmeston, Leonardsville and Unadilla Forks around 325 PM EDT. Hartwick and Exeter Center around 340 PM EDT. Cooperstown, Richfield Springs and Bowerstown around 345 PM EDT. TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
