Thunderstorm Warning for Walker County GA and 4 More

PEACHTREE CITY, GA (328 PM EDT Thu May 9 2019) — The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Floyd County in northwestern Georgia South central Whitfield County in northwestern Georgia Southeastern Walker County in northwestern Georgia Western Gordon County in northwestern Georgia Chattooga County in northwestern Georgia until 415 PM EDT. At 328 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Cloudland to near Holland to near Cave Spring, moving northeast at 40 mph. HAZARD: 60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE: Radar indicated. Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include Rome, Summerville, Trion, Plainville, Shannon, Lyerly, Menlo, Center Post, Pinson, Lindale, Oostanaula, Subligna, Suttles Mill, Tidings, Armuchee, Lake Marvin, Coosa, Villanow, Cloudland and Berryton. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Intense thunderstorm lines can produce brief tornadoes and widespread significant wind damage. Although a tornado is not immediately likely, it is best to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. These storms may cause serious injury and significant property damage.
