AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO, TX (820 PM CDT Thu May 9 2019) — The National Weather Service in Austin San Antonio has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for West central Karnes County in south central Texas Southeastern Atascosa County in south central Texas Southwestern Wilson County in south central Texas until 915 PM CDT. At 819 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Campbellton, moving northeast at 10 mph. Another severe storm was located 5 miles northeast of Campbellton, moving east at 5 mph. HAZARD: Ping pong ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE: Radar indicated. People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include Campbellton, Coy City, Peggy, McCoy, Fashing and Deweesville. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. This thunderstorm is capable of producing all types of severe weather including extremely large hail, destructive straight line winds and tornadoes. Move quickly to a safe shelter such as an interior room, a bathroom, closet or basement. Large hail, damaging winds, and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature s leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
