GREENVILLE-SPARTANBURG, SC (338 PM EDT Fri Apr 19 2019) — The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a Tornado Warning for Catawba County in the Piedmont of North Carolina Central Lincoln County in the Piedmont of North Carolina until 415 PM EDT. At 338 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Lincolnton, moving north at 40 mph. HAZARD: Tornado. SOURCE: Radar indicated rotation. Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. This dangerous storm will be near Maiden around 350 PM EDT. Newton and Conover around 400 PM EDT. Hickory, Claremont, Lookout Shoals Lake, Lake Hickory and St. Stephens around 410 PM EDT. Other locations impacted by this dangerous thunderstorm include Oxford, Bandys and Startown. TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.
