RALEIGH, NC (314 PM EDT FRI APR 19 2019) — The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a Tornado Warning for Alamance County in central North Carolina Eastern Guilford County in central North Carolina until 345 PM EDT At 314 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 11 miles south of Elon College, or 12 miles southwest of Burlington, moving north at 40 mph. HAZARD: Tornado and quarter size hail. SOURCE: Radar indicated rotation. Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. Locations impacted include Burlington, Graham, Elon College, Gibsonville, Haw River, Swepsonville, Alamance, Lake Guilford Mackintosh Marina, Lake Burlington and Lake Cammack Park & Marina. TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
