Tornado Warning for Cumberland County VA and 1 More

WAKEFIELD, VA (608 PM EDT FRI APR 19 2019) — The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a Tornado Warning for Cumberland County in central Virginia Central Prince Edward County in central Virginia until 645 PM EDT. At 608 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Longwood University, moving north at 50 mph. HAZARD: Tornado. SOURCE: Radar indicated rotation. Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. This dangerous storm will be near Guinea Mills around 625 PM EDT. Cumberland around 630 PM EDT. Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Kingsville, Raines Tavern, Trents Mill, Reeds, Grays Siding, Ashby, Oak Forest, Bear Creek Lake State Park, Stoddert and McRae. TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
