COLUMBIA, SC (152 PM EDT Fri Apr 19 2019) — The National Weather Service in Columbia has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Calhoun County in central South Carolina Southwestern Clarendon County in central South Carolina Southwestern Sumter County in central South Carolina Eastern Orangeburg County in central South Carolina until 245 PM EDT. At 151 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Bamberg to near Ruffin, moving northeast at 50 mph. HAZARD: 70 mph wind gusts. SOURCE: Radar indicated. Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. Locations impacted include Orangeburg, Brookdale, St. Matthews, Holly Hill, Summerton, Elloree, Santee State Park, Claflin College, South Carolina State University, Orangeburg County Airport, Edisto Gardens, Santee, Cameron, Eutawville, Vance, Poplar Creek Landing, Stumphole Landing, Prince of Orange Mall, Eautaw Springs and Edisto. Remain alert for a possible tornado! Conditions are favorable for tornadoes to form, sometimes with little or no advance warning. Move to an interior room or closet on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. For your protection seek shelter inside a sturdy building and stay away from windows.
