Thunderstorm Warning for Georgetown County SC

WILMINGTON, NC (330 PM EDT Fri Apr 19 2019) — The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Southwestern Georgetown County in northeastern South Carolina until 345 PM EDT. At 330 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Hampton Plantation State Park, or 8 miles northwest of McClellanville, moving northeast at 55 mph. HAZARD: 70 mph wind gusts. SOURCE: Radar indicated. Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. Locations impacted include Georgetown, Yawkey South Island, Winyah Bay Entrance, Sampit, North Santee, Graves and Georgetown Memorial Hospital. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until midnight EDT for northeastern South Carolina. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
