Tornado Warning for Kemper County MS and 1 More

JACKSON, MS (412 PM CDT THU APR 18 2019) — The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a Tornado Warning for Kemper County in east central Mississippi Northern Lauderdale County in east central Mississippi until 515 PM CDT. At 411 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Little Rock, or 17 miles east of Prospect, moving northeast at 60 mph. HAZARD: Tornado. SOURCE: Radar indicated rotation. Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. This dangerous storm will be near Martin around 415 PM CDT. Liberty, Damascus and Prismatic around 425 PM CDT. Bluff Springs and Blackwater around 430 PM CDT. De Kalb around 435 PM CDT. Electric Mills around 445 PM CDT. Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Scooba. TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
