AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO, TX (914 PM CDT Wed Apr 17 2019) — The National Weather Service in Austin San Antonio has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Kinney County in south central Texas Southeastern Val Verde County in south central Texas until 1000 PM CDT. At 913 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 8 miles north of Val Verde Park, or 10 miles northeast of Del Rio, moving east at 30 mph. HAZARD: Tennis ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE: Radar indicated. People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include Del Rio, Brackettville, Val Verde Park, Anacacho, Standart, Alamo Village, Amanda, Laughlin AFB, Turkey Mountain, Fort Clark Springs, Kickapoo Cavern State Park and Amistad Recreation Area – 277 South Boat Ramp. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Large hail, damaging winds, and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature s leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
