Tornado Warning for Lauderdale County AL and 1 More

HUNTSVILLE, AL (216 AM CDT SUN APR 14 2019) — The National Weather Service in Huntsville Alabama has issued a Tornado Warning for Northeastern Lauderdale County in northwestern Alabama Northwestern Limestone County in north central Alabama until 230 AM CDT. At 216 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing both tornadoes and extensive straight line wind damage were located over Rogersville, or 18 miles west of Athens, moving northeast at 40 mph. HAZARD: Tornado. SOURCE: Radar indicated rotation. Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. Locations impacted include Rogersville, Lexington, Anderson, Lester, Good Springs, Kingtown, Oliver, Whitehead, Mt Rozell and Elgin. TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris. Tornadoes are extremely difficult to see and confirm at night.
