GREENVILLE-SPARTANBURG, SC (1144 PM EDT Sun Apr 14 2019) — The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a Tornado Warning for Southeastern Iredell County in the Piedmont of North Carolina Eastern Lincoln County in the Piedmont of North Carolina Northwestern Mecklenburg County in the Piedmont of North Carolina Northeastern Gaston County in the Piedmont of North Carolina until 1215 AM EDT. At 1144 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 7 miles north of Gastonia, or near High Shoals, moving northeast at 50 mph. HAZARD: Tornado. SOURCE: Radar indicated rotation. Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. This dangerous storm will be near Mt Holly around 1150 PM EDT. Huntersville, Cornelius, Westport and Denver around 1200 AM EDT. Davidson, Mooresville and Ramsey Creek Park around 1210 AM EDT. Other locations impacted by this dangerous thunderstorm include Lowesville, Doolie and Lucia. TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris. Tornadoes are extremely difficult to see and confirm at night.
