Thunderstorm Warning for Rockingham County VA and 2 More

BALTIMORE MD/WASHINGTON, DC (1108 PM EDT Sun Apr 14 2019) — The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Western Shenandoah County in northwestern Virginia Northwestern Rockingham County in western Virginia Central Hardy County in eastern West Virginia until midnight EDT. At 1107 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Petersburg to 13 miles southeast of Monterey, moving east at 50 mph. HAZARD: 60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE: Radar indicated. Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects may become projectiles. Locations impacted include Broadway, Wardensville, Basye-Bryce Mountain, Mathias, Basye, Tunis, Yankeetown, Alonzaville, Bergton, Perry, Lost City, Lost River, Clover Hill, Baker, Hinton, Mccauley, Orkney Springs, Harmony, Cherry Grove and Singers Glen. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 300 AM EDT for western and northwestern Virginia: and eastern West Virginia. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
