CLEVELAND, OH (542 PM EDT Sun Apr 14 2019) — The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for North central Portage County in northeastern Ohio Southeastern Geauga County in northeastern Ohio until 600 PM EDT. At 541 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Mantua, or 9 miles north of Ravenna, moving northeast at 25 mph. HAZARD: 60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE: Radar indicated. Expect damage to trees and power lines. Locations impacted include Middlefield, Burton, Mantua, Parkman, Huntsburg and Hiram. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for northeastern Ohio. A Tornado Watch remains in effect for the warned area. Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. Although a tornado is not immediately likely, if one is spotted, act quickly and move to a place of safety inside a sturdy structure such as a basement or small interior room.
