RALEIGH, NC (611 PM EDT MON APR 8 2019) — The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Warren County in central North Carolina West central Halifax County in central North Carolina Northeastern Franklin County in central North Carolina until 700 PM EDT At 611 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Louisburg, moving northeast at 40 mph. HAZARD: 60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE: Radar indicated. Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include Louisburg, Warrenton, Norlina, Macon, Centerville, Arcola, Ingleside, Medoc Mountain State Park, Airlie and Afton. Straight line winds can blow down trees, power lines, and damage mobile homes and other buildings. Seek shelter in a sturdy structure until the storm has passed. Stay away from windows as flying debris generated by damaging winds can be deadly. To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement agency. They will send your report to the National Weather Service office in Raleigh. Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
