Tornado Warning for Amite County MS and 1 More

NEW ORLEANS, LA (626 PM CDT Sun Apr 7 2019) — The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a Tornado Warning for Northeastern Wilkinson County in southern Mississippi Northwestern Amite County in southern Mississippi until 645 PM CDT. At 625 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Gloster, or 16 miles west of Liberty, moving north at 25 mph. HAZARD: Tornado and quarter size hail. SOURCE: Radar indicated rotation. Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of northeastern Wilkinson and northwestern Amite Counties, including the following locations Crosby. TAKE COVER NOW! Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
