Thunderstorm Warning for Marion County AL and 2 More

BIRMINGHAM, AL (744 PM CDT SAT APR 6 2019) — The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Northwestern Walker County in central Alabama Southeastern Marion County in northwestern Alabama Western Winston County in northwestern Alabama until 830 PM CDT. At 744 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Brilliant, or 7 miles west of Lynn, moving northeast at 30 mph. HAZARD: 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE: Radar indicated. Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include Haleyville, Lynn, Double Springs, Brilliant, Eldridge, Houston Recreational Area, Lake Buttahatchee, Needmore, Winston Free State Barn, Ashridge, Natural Bridge, Weiss, Posey Field Airport, Delmar and Upper Bear Creek Reservoir. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature s leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
